The Freer and Sackler Galleries present the first Asia After Dark of 2011 with a deep awareness of the tragic events that have unfolded in Japan and offer fervent wishes for the safety, recovery, and wellbeing of our Japanese friends.
Asia After Dark: A Tribute to Japanese Art and Fashion with Guest DJ Steve Aoki

Join us for an evening of tribute to the magnificent art and fashion of Japan. View Japanese art in the galleries, then create and send messages of hope to friends and family in Japan. Enjoy dance beats by the legendary DJ Steve Aoki and DJ Cassidy Karakorn, as well as sake cocktails and sushi bites. Interact with models wearing Harajuku fashions. Contribute wishes of wellbeing to a group poetry project and watch as it transforms throughout the night.
Asia After Dark will host a give-by-text rally to benefit Japanese earthquake victims.
Suggested attire: Harajuku fashion or kimonos. Must 21 years old with a valid photo ID.
