Interesting encounter with a devoted fan

Peggy Hoffman, an information desk volunteer at the Smithsonian Castle, tells the story of a dedicated Smithsonian visitor she met recently.

“A woman named T.J. told us that she had been visiting a Smithsonian museum once a week since 1964. She lives in Annapolis and takes a commuter bus into Washington; she plans to continue to visit our museums for as long as she is able because there is always something new to see—exhibits change frequently and she is never bored. She reminisced about the Commons restaurant and how lovely it was and how she missed it. She also misses the great department stores in downtown Washington, D.C., such as Garfinkles and Woodward and Lothrop.”
