People who matter

Secretary Wayne Clough has received many prestigious awards throughout his distinguished career, but perhaps the most noteworthy recognition came Monday, June 20, when he was the subject of a clue on the television game show Jeopardy!

In the category “People Who Matter,” the $1,600 Double Jeopardy clue read: “Wayne Clough is the twelfth Secretary of this complex that includes the National Zoo.” (SPOILER ALERT—The answer is “What is the Smithsonian Institution.”)

Dr. Clough was appropriately humble. “Just think how this will spruce up my bio.  Eat your heart out Nobel Prize winners!”
