Interesting Encounter: Ted Leonsis

Jean Christensen, an information desk volunteer at the Donald W. Reynolds Center reports on an interesting encounter: “This morning, Ted Leonis, owner of the Washington Wizards and Washington Capitols, toured the museums with Nik Apostolides, the Portrait Gallery’s associate director and NPG Historian Amy Henderson. Amy had heard Mr. Leonsis give a talk recently; he mentioned several D.C. museums but not the National Portrait Gallery or the American Art Museum. Amy gave him a call and offered him a tour of the museums since we are neighbors—his teams play right next door at the Verizon Center. He seemed to enjoy his visit—he was very polite and smiled at me and the other volunteers on duty early before the museum opened!”
