Construction job opportunities at new Smithsonian museum
Clark/Smoot/Russell, the general contractor for the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture, has opened a job opportunities trailer on the museum’s construction site, located on Constitution Avenue near 15th St. N.W., in Washington, D.C. The trailer will be open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. to accept job applications. The opportunities center, managed by CSR, also will provide information on apprenticeships, construction job training programs and the process for bidding as a subcontractor.
Applicants will be screened for potential matches for any hiring needs that may arise; a number of subcontractors working on the site until the building is completed in 2015. Construction is in its early stages with excavation and excavation-support work continuing for the next three months. Other skilled trades such as carpenters, concrete finishers and concrete laborers are expected to be on the site by the late fall of 2013.
CSR has set up a job information hotline at (301) 272-8188 and a website: www.nmaahcproject.com.
