Call for talent!

The 11th annual Smithsonian Staff Picnic will be held Tuesday, July 2, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., for all staff, volunteers, fellows and interns. The Smithsonian Community Committee has issued the call for musical talent.

Musical entertainment is key to the event and a great way to show your colleagues a side of yourself they may not know. Professional musicians with Smithsonian roots, semi-pros and other talented individuals are invited to apply. Dance acts are also welcome to submit, whether contemporary or traditional. The Smithsonian family possesses enormous talents and high levels of achievement.  For the past 11 years, the Staff Picnic has provided a wonderful venue where we showcase our staff, celebrate their accomplishments, and have fun.  The Community Committee is privileged to produce the Picnic again this year, continuing our great tradition.

To be considered for the talent portion of the Picnic, please submit an audition by CD, DVD, or web address to Charlie Weber (WeberC@si.edu or MRC 520). Submissions are due no later than close of business Friday, April 26, so act quickly!

As in years past, the Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage has graciously offered the Folklife Festival site as the venue for the picnic.

Keep an eye out for further picnic notices–including, a call for volunteers, maps, schedules, and added surprises. Stay tuned to the Smithsonian Community Committee website

For further information regarding talent, contact Charlie Weber, Picnic Co-Chair, 202-633-6441, WeberC@si.edu.
