Which Apollo astronaut also worked at the Smithsonian?
Michael Collins, former director of the National Air and Space Museum. In 1969, Collins orbited the moon while Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin took the first steps on its surface. He presided over the opening of the museum in 1976, as a signal from the Viking 1 spacecraft commanded a robotic arm to cut the ribbon on Earth.
