Johnnetta Cole honored as lifelong educator

The 2015 “BET Honors” (Black Entertainment Television) ceremony took place on Saturday, Jan. 23 at Washington, D.C.’s Warner Theater. Among the awardees was Johnnetta Betsch Cole, director of the National Museum of African Art, who was honored for her achievments as a lifelong educator. In her remarks, Dr. Cole quoted Nelson Mandela: “Education is the most powerful weapon to change the world.”
Other honorees include singer/songwriter Usher Raymond; John W. Thompson, CEO of Virtual Instruments and chairman of the board of Microsoft; actress Phylicia Rashad; and rapper and entrepreneur Kanye West.
The “BET Honors 2015” will air on BET TV, Tuesday, Feb. 23 at 9:00 p.m. EST.
