Dr. David Skorton, 13th Secretary of the Smithsonian, and his wife, Dr. Robin Davisson, made a surprise appearance at the Smithsonian staff picnic Tuesday, where they introduced themselves to staff, chatted with researchers and sampled some of the Peruvian goodies available at the 2015 Smithsonian Folklife Festival.
Do you have any fun photos from the staff picnic you’d like to add to the slideshow? Send them to torch@si.edu and we’ll be happy to publish them!

I was in the 2010 Sunburst, but am not able to see myself in that sunburst, as I believe we were told. Why? And when will the 2015 Sunburst be available? I was present for that photo also.
Hi Jessica–As I replied to James Smithson (heh heh), the Smithsonian Community Committee is responsible for high-resolution and searchable versions of the Sunburst photos. Check their website on Prism https://collab.si.edu/sites/SI/SCC/default.aspx or contact Charlie Weber @weberc@si.edu
When will the very hi resolution image of the staff photo be available?
The Smithsonian Community Committee posted the high-resolution, searchable version of the 2010 photo to their website on Prism https://collab.si.edu/sites/SI/SCC/default.aspx They’ll probably be working with the photographer(s) to do the same for the 2015 version. Check with Charlie Weber @ weberc@si.edu.
