Finding opportunity through Project SEARCH

Searching for an enthusiastic, energetic and dedicated intern who is eager to learn and make a meaningful contribution? Come to the Project SEARCH Smithsonian Information Fair on March 9, from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., in the Ripley Center, Suite 3108.

Project SEARCH provides young adults with disabilities the opportunity to learn crucial job readiness skills that will prepare them for employment. The Smithsonian collaborates with The Ivymount School in Rockville, Md., and SEEC (Seeking Equality, Empowerment and Community for People with Developmental Disabilties), a Montgomery County rehabilitation services provider, to give young adults with disabilities the opportunity to learn crucial job readiness skills that will prepare them for employment.

Meet current interns and new Smithsonian employees hired through the program
Talk with members of the Project SEARCH team about the program’s goals and origins
Hear from current and former mentors and supervisors about their experiences
Brainstorm possible internship tasks and opportunities

Project SEARCH participants have interned throughout the Smithsonian, including Smithsonian Institution Archives, Office of Protection Services, National Museum of Natural History, Archives of American Art, National Postal Museum, Office of Facilities, Management, and Reliability, Office of the Chief Information Officer, Smithsonian Gardens, Smithsonian Libraries, Office of Human Resources, Office of Finance & Accounting, Office of Contracting and Personal Property Management, Freer│Sackler, Smithsonian Enterprises, National Museum of the American Indian, National Portrait Gallery, Office of Fellowships and Internships, Office of Equal Employment and Minority Affairs, Smithsonian Associates, and many more.

And if that’s not enough of an enticement, refreshments will be served!
