We are Smithsonian
Be an opener of doors for such as come after thee, and do not try to make the universe a blind alley.
—Ralph Waldo Emerson
Collectively, we represent the world’s largest museum, education, and research complex. Every day, we work together to advance our 170-year-old mission to increase and diffuse knowledge everywhere for everyone. Whether in science, art, history or culture, we explore, open new doors, and explain what it means to be human. Last month, the nation and the world again witnessed what the Smithsonian can do when we opened the doors to the National Museum of African American History and Culture.
In celebration of that spirit, we are proud to share our latest Smithsonian video highlights and focuses on the diverse and dedicated people that make the Smithsonian “the Smithsonian.” We hope that the video will inform and inspire the public about our work and we will be making it available across a number of platforms and venues.
