Two much-anticipated films are opening this month at the Airbus IMAX Theater at the Air and Space Museum’s Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Va. Discounted tickets for staff!

 

Doctor Strange Opens in IMAX 3D November 3

After a tragic accident, world-renowned neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) must put ego aside and learn the secrets of a hidden world of mysticism and alternate dimensions in order to defeat dark forces beyond reality as we know it.

More than an hour of Doctor Strange will be specially formatted for IMAX theaters. At the Airbus IMAX Theater these sequences will expand to fill more of the screen—delivering audiences 26 percent more of the image than standard theaters for a truly unique and immersive experience.

 

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them in IMAX 2D November 17

The year is 1926, and Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, things go awry with the escape of some of his fantastic beasts.

Staff discounts

Staff and volunteers possessing a valid Smithsonian ID may purchase an unlimited number of tickets for themselves and their friends and family at a special discounted rate of $12.

The reduced rate tickets must be purchased in-person at a Smithsonian Theaters box office (National Air and Space Museum,National Museum of Natural History and the Udvar-Hazy Center). Presentation of your Smithsonian ID is required to receive the discounted rate. Box offices open daily at 10:00 a.m. and remain open until the final show of the evening has started.
