Celebrate the best of American design at 2017 Smithsonian Craft2Wear. Chic and unique!

The Smithsonian Craft2Wear show and sale is a celebration of America’s top designers. Sixty-five designers have been chosen from 24 states and the District of Columbia D.C. to showcase their stylish and finely crafted creations, including clothing, jewelry, scarves, leather goods and other accessories at the National Building Museum Oct. 5 to 7.

You can discover that perfect jacket to add dash to your weekday attire, earrings or a necklace to jazz up your dinner dress, or a hand-tooled leather belt to please the gentlemen. Even children can feel special in colorful embellished coats and hats. These one-of-a-kind designer Items are for sale at various price points with proceeds going to benefit Smithsonian programs.

The Opening Night party is on Thursday, Oct. 5, from 6 to 9 p.m., in the National Building Museum’s Great Hall. It features a cocktail reception with creative hors d’oeuvres and dessert, an Art on the Runway fashion show, and stylists to show you how to transform your outfit with statement pieces. Meet the designers, learn about their techniques and inspirations, and be the first to buy their new creations.

Smithsonian Craft2Wear continues on Friday, Oct. 6, from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and on Saturday, Oct. 7, from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The National Building Museum is located at 401 F St., NW.

Daily admission tickets are $13 in advance or $15 at the door. Opening Night tickets, by advance purchase only, are $50 and include a ticket to return to the show on FrIday or Saturday. Smithsonian Craft2Wear is produced by the Smithsonian Women’s Committee. The proceeds from the committee’s two signature annual events, the Smithsonian Craft Show in April and Smithsonian Craft2Wear, support Smithsonian education, research, conservation and exhibitions through the Smithsonian Women’s Committee’s Grants program. To date, these grants total nearly $12 million.
