February 6, 1981 “How Fleeting is Fame” opens at the National Portrait Gallery. The exhibition consists of lithographic portraits of 19th-century celebrities whose fame did not withstand the test of time. We would like to show you some portraits from the exhibition but we’ve forgotten who was in it.
