The Smithsonian’s two IMAX® theaters are the largest and most technologically advanced theaters in the Washington, D.C. region. Offering dual 4K laser projection and 2D and 3D presentations, the theaters offer giant-screen films that measure up to 6 stories tall. The Lockheed Martin IMAX Theater is located at the National Air and Space Museum on the National Mall  and the Airbus IMAX Theater is located at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Va.

In addition, the Warner Bros. Theater, located at the National Museum of American History, offers state-of-the-art digital 2D and 3D and 35mm film presentations, while the Einstein Planetarium’s 77-foot digital dome theater is the only full-dome cinema in Washington, D.C.

The INTIX Awards Program was created to honor and showcase those who have demonstrated professionalism, leadership, service and special achievements through creative, informative and innovative management.

To be eligible, nominated box offices must be a current member of INTIX, active as a ticket operation for a minimum of five years, and have an outstanding reputation for customer service. The staff must function skillfully and professionally as a team, and must maintain a standard of excellence in regard to accuracy and precision, both publicly and internally..

Smithsonian Enterprises was selected by the INTIX Awards committee due to the theater team’s outstanding work in 2017. The team successfully navigated a major system migration to Tickets.com’s ProVenue and assisted with the massively successful Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors exhibition at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, all while managing thousands of ongoing events and not losing a single hour of operations.

Tammy Enright, Ticketing Systems Administrator, accepted the award on behalf of Smithsonian Enterprise’s four box office locations. (Airbus, Einstein Planetarium, Lockheed, and Warner Bros.). Jennifer Staats Moore, Chair of the INTIX Award Committee oversaw the presentation
