David Voyles named deputy director of SAAM
David Voyles has been named deputy director of the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Voyles takes over the position from Rachel Allen, who has retired after a 45-year career with SAAM.
Voyles was previously the director of the Office of Planning, Management, and Budget, and has been with the Smithsonian for more than two decades. He has helped secure Congressional funding for the Smithsonian and managed various campaign budgets at the museum. Prior to serving as director of OPMB, he was senior administrative officer for the Smithsonian’s Office of the Under Secretary for Finance and Administration.
In a statement, Voyles said, “I am excited to undertake this leadership role at SAAM and to contribute my skills to this leading museum. I look forward to working with the director and talented staff to build on its success and expand its reach and programs.”
