You’re invited! Annual Docent Workshop

The Smithsonian Institution Docent Exchange invites ALL Smithsonian docents to attend the annual SIDE Workshop.

Volunteers in audience, one raising hand

The annual SIDE workshop offers opportunities for volunteers to improve their skills and share knowledge.

All Smithsonian docents are invited to attend the annual SIDE Workshop on Saturday, March 16 from 8:30-11:30 a.m. at Smithsonian American Art Museum/National Portrait Gallery. The morning will begin with refreshments; then all attendees will have the opportunity to join two presentations that also will be part of the National Docent Symposium 2019, to be held in Washington, D.C. in October.  Addressing Difficult Topics will be facilitated by docents from Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture, and See Me: Tours for those with Memory Loss will be facilitated by docents from Smithsonian American Art and National Museum of African Art.  A fee of $10.00 helps to defray any costs.

Docents, let’s get together to learn ways to improve our touring skills, share our knowledge and what works for us while enjoying time together.  To register please go to:
