March 18, 1961 The new hall of Monetary History and Medallic Art opens in the Arts and Industries Building, illustrating major aspects of the development of money economy. Part of the Exhibits Modernization Program, the exhibition illustrates from the “beginning of primitive barter to the establishment of our modern monetary system.”
