March 23, 1987 “Isaac Newton and the Principia: Three Hundred Years” opens at the National Museum of American History. The exhibition marks the 1687 publication of Newton’s “Principia Mathematica,” the cornerstone of modern physics and an important influence in the study of chemistry, electricity and magnetism.
