National Museum of Natural History, historic photographs, south entrance

The United States National Museum’s, now the National Museum of Natural History, south entrance, ca. 1911. This is the side of the museum facing the Mall and is the main entrance to the museum.

June 20, 1911 The new United States National Museum building (now the National Museum of Natural History) is formally completed. The museum will  house the nation’s anthropological, art, historical and natural history collections, although many historical exhibits will remain in the Arts and Industries Building, the original National Museum.
