June 4, 1985 “Aditi: A Celebration of Life,” created in New Delhi in 1978 to mark the International Year of the Child, opens at the Natural History Museum as one of the Smithsonian’s contributions to the nationwide Festival of India. It will become one of the museum’s most popular exhibitions. India is also featured at the annual Folklife Festival on the National Mall.
