Today in Smithsonian History: June 9, 1984

A photograph of the collage "Physiomythological Flood-Picture (Switzerland: Birthplace of Dada)" made by Max Ernst and Jean Arp in 1920. The collage was featured in the "Artistic Collaboration in the 20th Century" exhibit at the Hirshhorn Museum which opened in 1984.

June 9, 1984  Curated by Cynthia Jaffe McCabe, “Artistic Collaboration in the Twentieth Century,” featuring more than 100 works created by 70 artistic collaborators between 1913 and 1984, opens at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden.
