Today in Smithsonian History: August 25, 2006

Items from the "Treasures of American History" are put on display as they are being prepared for their new exhibit. August 25, 2006 “The Treasures of American History” exhibition prepares to open. “Treasures” will include iconic items from the National Museum of American History that will be displayed at the National Air and Space Museum beginning Sept. 6, 2006 while the American History Museum undergoes renovations. The droids C-3PO and R2-D2 from the movie “Star Wars” are seen here being prepared for exhibition, along with the tapestry seen in the foreground.
