December 19, 2010 Dr. Scott Miller is named Deputy Under Secretary for Collections and Interdisciplinary Support. The position reports to the Under Secretary for Science and the Under Secretary for History, Art, and Culture. Miller, an entomologist, previously worked at the Smithsonian from 2006 to 2010 as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Research, from 2004 to 2006 as associate director for science at the National Zoological Park, and from 2000 to 2006, as chairman of the Departments of Entomology and Systematic Biology at the National Museum of Natural History.
