The cover of the Joseph Henry Paper's Volume 11. The JHP's are a collection of correspondence to and from the Smithsonian's first Secretary, physicist Joseph Henry. Volume 11 spans from January 1866 to May 1878. It is the last volume in the collection and was completed in 2007.

December 26, 1972 The “Joseph Henry Papers” exhibit opens in the Great Hall of the Smithsonian Institution Building. The exhibit contains rare books, pictorial material and original manuscripts illustrating the scientific career of the American physicist who was the first Secretary of the Smithsonian. The exhibit marks the publication by the Smithsonian of the first volume of “The Papers of Joseph Henry.”
