COVID-19 Update: Badging and ID Office
Due to the current COVID-19 situation and enhanced teleworking initiated by the Smithsonian Institution, any staff member (employee, trust, contractor, affiliate, etc.) that has a credential or badge that is due to expire before May 31, 2020, can have it extended by following the instructions below:
- The staff member whose Smithsonian badge is expiring shall contact their SPONSOR to inform them of the expiration date.
- The SPONSOR of the staff member shall email the staff member’s full name to OPS-PSO@si.edu, with “COVID-19 Badge Renewal” in the subject line.
- Upon receipt of the email, the Personnel Security and ID Office staff shall extend expiration date of the badge to May 31, 2020.
- The Personnel Security and ID Office will respond back to the sponsor that the credential or badge has been extended till May 31, 2020.
- The form normally required for credential/badge renewal, Application for Identification Credential Form (SI-4008), shall not be required for the extension.
