COVID-19 Update: New “Reopening the Smithsonian” website

As Secretary Bunch mentioned last week, the COVID-19 Response Team has been busy developing a new website to keep employees up to date on Smithsonian’s reopening plans and our return to a new normal. That website is now live.

Just like the COVID-19 website, this page was created to ensure our employees are informed and have access to a central repository for documents and news related to our eventual return to work.

The Reopening site is part of the larger COVID-19 Response Team website. This ensures that popular features like frequently asked questions with overlapping topics concerning response and recovery can be easily located. Public health and safety information, HR guidance, and more will remain vital as we return to work and eventually open our doors to the public.

Our latest news items are prominently featured on the reopening page along with a contact link to directly connect you with the Reopening Task Force should you have questions or suggestions as Smithsonian moves forward.

To learn more about the framework Smithsonian is using to develop our policies for bringing more staff back to the office, visit the website where the two documents guiding Smithsonian’s reopening plans, Guidelines for Opening Up America Again, and Public Health Principles for a Phased Reopening During COVID-19: Guidance for Governors are posted.

The COVID-19 Response and Reopening web pages will continue to grow as more information becomes available and as we move closer to returning to work. Be sure to bookmark this page and visit it frequently as plans are finalized, policies put in place, and communications and tools are developed.

Thank you for your continued patience, dedication, and teamwork as we all navigate this together.

Sincerely,
The COVID-19 Response Team
