COVID-19 Update: If you’re sick, stay home!
Dear Colleague,
It is more important than ever to evaluate your health each and every morning using these daily health screening questions and if you’re sick, stay home!
We recommend you develop a plan now. Communicate with your supervisor about your leave balances and options, including ways you may be able telework if you develop symptoms but are still well enough to work at home. Knowing your options and having a plan ahead of time can alleviate some of the stress around unplanned illness, making it easier to put your health, and the health of your team, first.
We understand that you might have concerns about using your leave or your leave balances. But, as described in this recent SI Wide, there are several leave options and workplace flexibilities that may be available to you. Discuss these concerns with your supervisor. Your supervisor, or your unit’s HR liaison, can help you find solutions. Coming to work ill puts your team and anyone you encounter at risk. Remember: If you’re sick, stay home.
The decisions you make each day can have a big impact on your coworkers. Staying home when you’re sick is critical, but there is more you can do. You must wear a face covering and always keep a safe distance between you and anyone you encounter whenever you do report to work. These actions are not only required, but also go a long way in helping protect yourself and your colleagues.
We all have a role to play in slowing the spread of this illness and keeping each other safe. Above all, do your part; if you’re sick, stay home!
Stay safe and be well,
The COVID-19 Response Team
