Art Across Cultures

Bringing us together

Last month, the Office of Visitor Services and Volunteer Management (OVS), hosted volunteer docent Dr. Yuan Liu for a virtual program for volunteers across the Smithsonian. During the program, we observed and compared artworks from diverse cultures across Asia. If you were unable to join us for the program (or want to see it again), you can watch the recording below!

  • Volunteer from home! Click on this link to see related transcription projects being offered by the Smithsonian Transcription Center: https://transcription.si.edu/browse?filter=owner%3A4&sort=latest&showcompleted=1&difficulty=
  • Take another tour! The Smithsonian National Museum of Asian Art (Freer and Sackler) is offering online tours that can be reserved for groups of five or more adults. These live, interactive tours feature high-resolution images of artworks and provide virtual visitors an opportunity to engage in conversation with the museum’s docents. Currently there are three tour topics: “Art Across Cultures”, “Explore Buddhist Art” and “Hokusai and the Art of Japan.” Click this link to learn more and reserve a tour: https://asia.si.edu/visit/online-tours/
