Vaccines Administered to Susceptible Species at Smithsonian’s National Zoo
As the deadline approaches for Smithsonian employees and affiliated staff (including volunteers) to be vaccinated for COVID-19, we wanted to share a milestone reached at the National Zoo: several species of animals susceptible to the virus recently received their first dose of an animal specific version of the vaccine!
Watch the video of them getting their shots below and read more about it on the Zoo’s website here. If you have questions about the vaccine requirement, including how to submit your status, please see the information below the video.*
*As previously announced the Smithsonian is requiring that all employees, affiliated staff (which includes volunteers), and contractors must be fully immunized by November 22, 2021. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required no later than November 8, 2021. The easiest way to submit proof of vaccination to the Smithsonian’s Occupational Health Services (OHS) is to email OHS-MedicalReview@si.edu. To learn more about the vaccine mandate, including how to submit your documentation, please read the OVS Message, sent on September 23, 2021.
