COVID-19 Team Update: CDC Community Levels under consideration

On Friday, the CDC released a new framework for measuring the impact of COVID-19. These new metrics, called COVID-19 Community Levels, are designed to help communities, health officials, and individuals make safety decisions.

The Smithsonian is carefully reviewing the CDC’s guidance and is working on how to integrate these metrics into our operations and how they may inform our use of safety measures. We will provide you with an update on how this impacts our policies and operations as soon as possible.

In the meantime, all COVID-19 policies and safety measures remain in place, including the proper use of mandatory face coverings, practicing social distancing, taking the daily health screening questions, and as always, if you’re sick, stay home!
