OSHEM2U: Take charge of your health
Receive an Individual Health Risk Assessment at a special event May 17.
The Office of Safety, Health, and Environmental Management (OSHEM) will be hosting a special OSHEM2U event to make it easier and more convenient for you to take charge of your health. All Smithsonian employees, federal and trust, are invited to join the Occupational Health Services staff at the National Museum of American History on Wednesday, May 17 to receive an individual Health Risk Assessment.
Nurses will be on hand at OSHEM2U to check your vital signs, including blood pressure and heart rate, and will test your total high-density lipoprotein (HDL) and Cholesterol levels by taking a small sample of blood via fingerstick. Knowing your numbers will help you learn if you have common risk factors for heart disease so you can take steps to improve your overall cardiac health.
The event will also feature an InBody machine for body composition analysis. Not only will InBody let you know if you have enough muscle to support the everyday demands on your body, but will tell you your Basal Metabolic Rate, or the number of calories your body burns in an average day at rest.
Staff do not need to take any special steps to prepare for or attend OSHEM2U. Simply visit the National Museum of American History first-floor South Wing Conference Room on May 17th between noon and 3:30 p.m. Once you arrive, the OSHEM staff will have you sign in and will complete the Health Risk Assessment. Confidential results will be shared with you at the event.
We hope to see you on May 17. Should you not be able to attend OSHEM2U, you are welcome to make an appointment for a Health Risk Assessment through the Smithsonian Health Clinics by calling 202.633.WELL. If you have any questions, please email Marty Arthur at arthurm@si.edu.
Until OSHEM2U, be well!
