Celebrate Pride month with the Smithsonian Pride Alliance
What is Pride Alliance?
Smithsonian Pride Alliance is the Institution’s volunteer-run LGBTQ+ employee resource group, consisting of over 400 lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, pansexual, two-spirit, androgynous, or asexual (LGBTQ+) staff, contractors, volunteers, interns, fellows, researchers – and allies! The mission of Pride Alliance is to serve, enable, and provide a source of community for LGBTQ+ Smithsonian employees, and their allies, while ensuring impactful and appropriate representation of LGBTQ+ individuals, their history, rights, and concerns in Smithsonian policies and programs.
June is LGBTQ+ Pride Month!
Pride Alliance is thrilled to be participating in-person at DC Capital Pride. On Saturday, June 10, Smithsonian is marching with the Pride in Federal Service contingent representing Federal agencies across the government. While sign-up for marching in the parade has closed, we encourage all staff to come out and cheer on your colleagues. The parade kicks off at 3:00 PM.
On Sunday, June 11, Pride Alliance will feature a booth at the Capital Pride festival from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Everyone is welcome! Check out the Capital Pride 2023 page on the Smithsonian Pride Alliance Prism site for all the details.
