Smithsonian’s 2023 flu vaccination events begin Monday, October 2.

Throughout October, employees, affiliated staff, volunteers, and contractors are strongly encouraged to get your free flu shot from Smithsonian Occupational Health Services (OHS). OHS will be at the Smithsonian Staff Picnic on Tuesday, October 3 to give flu shots. Additionally, full list of vaccination events can be found on the OSHEM website on PRISM.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends a yearly flu vaccine for most adults as the first and most important step in protecting against this serious disease. For individuals 65 years and older, OHS will have the Fluzone High‐Dose available. Pregnant women of all stages are eligible, however, they should check with their doctor prior to receiving the shot. If you have any questions regarding the vaccine or your eligibility, please call OHS at 3-WELL (202-633-9355).

OHS hopes that all managers and supervisors will encourage and support their employees in taking advantage of this free health offering. Prior to attending one of the vaccination events, please review the CDC’s Vaccine Information Statement. You will sign an informed consent form at the time of vaccination.

Please note, the Smithsonian will not be giving COVID vaccines. Staff are strongly encouraged to get those vaccines through their primary care physician or pharmacist.
