Announcing the Smithsonian Veterans Council
The Smithsonian Veterans Council is an assembly of military veteran Smithsonian employees and volunteers, veteran spouses, and persons interested in promoting veteran issues.
On joining our nation’s Armed Forces, every veteran swears an oath to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States.” Veterans Day provides us an opportunity to commemorate their dedication to uphold that oath. We are proud of the many veterans, spouses of veterans, and veteran family members, who work or volunteer at the Smithsonian.
On this Veterans Day, I am pleased to announce the launch of the Smithsonian Veterans Council, an assembly of military veteran Smithsonian employees and volunteers, veteran spouses, and persons interested in promoting veteran issues. The Council will advocate for veterans and spouses across the Smithsonian community, provide Smithsonian leadership with advice on ways to better recognize veteran service and contributions, and represent Smithsonian veterans at external events and remembrances. If you are interested in serving on the Council or would like additional information, please contact Frank Blazich at blazichf@si.edu.
On behalf of the entire Smithsonian community, I would like to extend our gratitude to all veterans and especially our veteran Smithsonian colleagues on this day of remembrance and appreciation.
