Get your flu shots this October
The Occupational Health Services Office will be operating clinics across the Smithsonian all month.
The Smithsonian’s 2024 Flu Vaccination clinics will begin October 1.
Employees, affiliated staff, volunteers, and contractors are strongly encouraged to get their free flu shots from Smithsonian Occupational Health Services (OHS). OHS will kick off their flu vaccination events at the National Postal Museum on October 1. Throughout the month, OHS nurses will be visiting locations around the Smithsonian, including in New York and Massachusetts, to host clinics. Flu shots will also be available at the Smithsonian staff picnic on October 9. The full list of vaccination events and locations for the remainder of the month can be found below or on the OSHEM website on PRISM.

Unfortunately, we are not able to offer COVID vaccinations. As a reminder, Smithsonian employees use up to four hours of administrative leave to receive the COVID vaccination from outside healthcare provides like pharmacies or personal physicians.
You do not need an appointment to attend one of the vaccination events. Prior to arriving to the event, please review the CDC’s Vaccine Information Statement. We also ask that you complete, print out, and bring this informed consent form with you to the event to help speed the process. If you are not able to complete the consent form ahead of time, you will be asked to complete one on site before you are vaccinated.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends a yearly flu vaccine for most adults as the first and most important step in protecting against this serious disease. For individuals 65 years and older, OHS will have the Fluzone High‐Dose available. Pregnant women of all stages are eligible, however, they should check with their doctor prior to receiving the shot. If you have any questions regarding the vaccine or your eligibility, please call OHS at 3-WELL (202-633-9355).
OHS hopes that all managers and supervisors will encourage and support their employees in taking advantage of this free health offering.
For those in the DC area, OHS will be at the Staff Picnic at the Quad on October 9. Look for us on the Picnic Map!
If you can, to make your visit faster, please print out the consent form below and bring it to the event.
