Search committee named for new SITES|Smithsonian Affiliations Director

Update on the search for the next Director of the SITES|Smithsonian Affiliations organization

A search committee has been appointed to identify qualified candidates for this position. The members of the committee are:

• Monique Chism, Under Secretary for Education (Chair)
• Frederica (Fredi) Adelman, Director, Smithsonian Associates
• Devon Akmon, Michigan State University & Former Director, Arab American National Museum
• Ann Fortescue, Executive Director, International Museum of Arts and Science
• Brenda Gaines, Chair, SITES|Smithsonian Affiliations Advisory Board
• Aaron Glavas, National Outreach Manager, Smithsonian Affiliations
• Anthea Hartig, Elizabeth MacMillan Director, National Museum of American History
• Lorna Ho Randlett, Member, SITES|Smithsonian Affiliations Advisory Board
• Andy Mink, Director of Rural Initiatives, Office of the Under Secretary for Education
• Jennifer Schommer, Assistant Director for Public Affairs, SITES

 The search committee will also be supported by the Secretary’s Chief of Staff Greg Bettwy and the search firm of Koya Partners.

Myriam Springuel assumed leadership of both the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service and Smithsonian Affiliations in 2018 when the two units were reorganized under a single management structure. Springuel retired in June.
