Tsedaye Makonnen Enrichment Recording Now Available
Earlier this month, the Office of Visitor Services (OVS) hosted our Smithsonian Volunteer Enrichment program with Tsedaye Makonnen.

What do you think of our cool new logo?
Tsedaye Makonnen, a Washington, D.C.-based Ethiopian American Artist, discussed her exhibition, Tsedaye Makonnen: Sanctuary :: መቅደስ :: Mekdes at the National Museum of African Art. The exhibition honors the memory of Black women and femme individuals affected by global histories of violence.
Created during her residency as a Smithsonian Artist Research Fellow, the central installation in the exhibition connects themes of climate crisis, forced migration, police brutality, and more, representing vulnerable voices through indigenous Ethiopian and Eritean codes of protection and healing.
If you were unable to join for the live program (or want to watch it again), the recording is now available! As a reminder, we ask that you do not share our recordings outside of the Smithsonian as a courtesy to our presenters. Click the link below to access the recording.
