About the Author: Monique Marie DeJong

Monique Marie DeJong is currently a freelance writer for the Office of Public Affairs at the Smithsonian and also works as a freelance journalist in Washington, D.C., reporting on children’s rights. Previously, she lived in London, reporting on corporate corruption, and she began her career working as an associate editor for NBC’s former Today show travel editor in Los Angeles.
