As an artist, I am fascinated by how people use their photographic cameras when travelling. The proposed photograph is part of a larger photographic series titled “Tourists Who Shoot” (2009-2013). “Tourists who Shoot” shows tourists while using their cameras in popular tourist locations like the Pyramids in Cairo, the Parthenon in Athens, Time Square in Manhattan, and the Old Town in Prague.
My research also focuses on similar themes. I’m currently a Smithsonian Fellow in Museum Practice and I examine how visitors use their cameras inside art museums, why they take photographs and the meaning of these photographs.
