Family of Indians carrying their possessions

“Louisiana Indians Walking Along a Bayou,” Alfred Boisseau, 1847.

A man, two woman, and child are walking along a river in a marshy area. The man, who leads, carries a long rifle over his shoulder. A boy follows, holding a long stick– probably a bow or blowgun. A woman carries a basket over her shoulders, while the second woman carries a sleeping baby on her back. Both women have their heads bowed as the males look on.
