December 7, 1991 Time Covers the War: Personalities from World War II opens at the National Portrait Gallery. The exhibition commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and includes 36 original portraits commissioned for the covers of Time magazine between 1938 and 1945.
