COVID-19 Update: Webinar from EEOC
A webinar with useful information about the COVID-19 pandemic is available from EEOC.
Dear Colleagues,
Before I deliver this message, I want to take this opportunity to commend the SI COVID-19 Response Team and the OEEMA staff for outstanding initiatives that ensure all employees and affiliated staff have access to information regarding their rights and responsibilities during this COVID-19 pandemic. I am proud to say that among other things, we have and continue to address all questions and concerns brought to our attention as well as those we have identified ourselves.
The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has published a webinar to address concerns related to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on EEO rights and responsibilities. Specifically, the webinar answers questions submitted by the public about how to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic in light of the federal employment nondiscrimination laws the EEOC enforces – including the American’s with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Title VII, and GINA.
Subjects included in this webinar include:
- What can/cannot my supervisor ask me:
About my symptoms
About my family’s/housemate’s symptoms - Can they take my temperature before I come to work?
- Can they require other tests before I come to work?
- What can I request as a reasonable accommodation while I telework?
- Do I need a doctor’s note if I’m sick?
- What if I can’t get a test for Covid 19?
- The webinar is 43 minutes long and is available on YouTube. Click here to view the webinar.
This webinar will also be located on the OEEMA website. To view the OEEMA site remotely, please paste http://prism2.si.edu/siorganization/oeema into the “Enter an internal resource” field located in the top left of telework.si.edu.
