Antonio Guzmán to head Office of Human Resources
Guzmán joins the Smithsonian March 28.
Under Secretary for Administration Mike McCarthy announced today that Antonio Guzmán will join the Smithsonian as Director, Office of Human Resources, effective March 28.
In his new role as Director, Guzmán will oversee all human capital aspects at the Smithsonian. He also will work closely with the Smithsonian’s future Head Diversity Officer and the Director of the Office of Equal Employment and Supplier Diversity.
Guzmán brings 27 years of experience in federal HR practice as well as an understanding of museum operations. His federal HR leadership includes roles at the United States Agency for International Development, Office of Inspector General and the Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division. He also served as the Managing Director of Human Resources and Overseas Administration at the Millennium Challenge Corporation.
His museum experience includes serving as Director of Human Resources for the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. He managed a comprehensive HR program for all aspects of a workforce comprised of federal employees, privately funded staff, volunteers, and contractors. Prior to that, Guzmán held various leadership and operational positions in HR at the Department of Agriculture, Department of the Interior and the Department of Treasury.
Guzmán earned his master’s and bachelor’s degrees in business administration with honors from the University of Puerto Rico.
