COVID-19 Team Update: Volunteers needed to assist with vaccination effort

Banner showing COVID-19 virus

Colleagues,

As announced last week, the National Museum of Natural History (NMNH) is hosting a multi-agency government vaccination clinic. The clinic will begin giving doses on Thursday, April 15th and will run for two weeks, through Wednesday, April 28th. In order to efficiently and effectively serve all those coming in, we are requesting volunteers from the Smithsonian community – to include contractors and other affiliated persons who have a Smithsonian credential.

Volunteers will:

  • Serve as way-finders, friendly faces, and general support for the flow of the clinic – no medical positions or experience are needed
  • Serve the full day, 8am – 4pm
  • Serve as many days as they like, repeat volunteers are highly encouraged

Volunteers are needed each day of the clinic, which will run Mondays-Fridays. We have 16 volunteer positions for each day. We are prioritizing sign-ups for the following days:

  • Thursday, April 15
  • Friday, April 16
  • Monday, April 19
  • Tuesday, April 20
  • Wednesday, April 21
  • Thursday, April 22
  • Friday, April 23

If you would like to volunteer, please email Amy Loy (LoyA2@si.edu) and include:

  • VOLUNTEER in the subject line
  • Name
  • Phone number
  • Number of day(s) you are available
  • Date(s) you are available and/or date preferences

Volunteers who can serve on the first two days of the clinic (April 15 and 16) will be asked to attend a training on Wednesday, April 14.

Additional details, including logistics for arriving to your shift, will be provided once you are confirmed.

Thank you for your support!

Stay safe and be well,
COVID-19 Response Team
