Passing the Torch
After three eventful years overseeing Volunteer Voices (and doing lots of other things, too!), today I’m sharing that I’ll be leaving the Office of Visitor Services and Volunteer Management (OVS) to move to a position within the Smithsonian’s National Zoo. This means that I’ll be stepping away from managing content for the blog.
When I was first assigned Volunteer Voices after my hiring, the idea of managing it intimidated me! I had never overseen a blog or generated content, much less with the Smithsonian name attached to it. As I scrolled through past posts, I remember thinking, “How will I ever come up with enough stuff to talk about?!” Luckily, I quickly learned that the Institution truly lives up to its mission to diffuse knowledge – we simply have so much to share, it seemingly never ends. And as time marched forward, Volunteer Voices became a part of my job I very much enjoyed. Every week, I was excited to share another story or more important information with readers.
It is with this same excitement, that I pass the torch of the Torch page to my wonderful and creative colleague Savannah Loebig. I know that Savannah, Program Assistant with OVS, will work hard to inform and excite you with new posts on Volunteer Voices.
Keep reading, keep learning, and thank you for volunteering with the Smithsonian!
