Black History Month at NMAAHC
Special events, talks and programming will highlight the theme of “Black Resistance” during February.
In February, the National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC) will uplift the theme Black resistance, chosen by the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH) for Black History Month. We will recognize the history of Black Americans mobilizing resources and shaping social movements to establish safe spaces for their communities to thrive despite historical and ongoing oppression.
Join us @NMAAHC on social media and nmaahc.si.edu/resistance each week during Black History Month as we explore five aspects of Black resistance:
- A Tradition of Activism
- Foundations of Faith
- The Value of Education
- The Black Press
- Leaning into Black Joy
