Search Committee named for new General Counsel

The Board of Regents and Secretary Bunch have updated the search for our next General Counsel, following Judith Leonard’s departure earlier this month.

A search committee has been appointed, and the members are listed below: 

• Jeffrey Minear, Former Counselor to the Chief Justice of the United States (Chair)
• Thomas Dempsey, Director, Office of Contracting and Personal Property Management
• Danielle Fisher, Associate General Counsel, Office of General Counsel
• Ginny Gomez, Chief of Staff to the Deputy Secretary 
• Kevin Gover, Under Secretary for Museums and Culture
• Tamika Hinton, Branch Manager, Labor & Employee Relations, Office of Human Resources
• David Larson, Assistant General Counsel, Office of General Counsel
• Carol LeBlanc, President, Smithsonian Enterprises
• David Leitch, Former Global General Counsel, Bank of America & Former Deputy Counsel to President George W. Bush
• Porter Wilkinson, Chief of Staff to the Regents   

The search committee, which has already begun to meet, will also be supported by my Chief of Staff Greg Bettwy and the search firm of Major, Lindsay & Africa.  Farleigh Earhart will continue to serve as Acting General Counsel.
