Save the Date! Secretary’s Town Hall Meeting: Sept. 20 at 10 a.m.

Please join Secretary Bunch Wednesday, Sept. 20, at 10 a.m. in-person in the Ring Auditorium at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden for a Smithsonian All-Staff meeting. This will be a hybrid event with both a live audience and a livestream on Prism for those who cannot attend in person.

The Secretary will provide remarks about the “State of the Smithsonian” and will then be joined by Allison Willcox, Deputy Director of the National Museum of Natural History, for a sit-down interview.

The Secretary will discuss several topics of significance to Smithsonian staff, including how the Smithsonian will meet the challenges arising from the climate of the times, and issues such as telework and the hybrid workplace and updates on our two newest museums.

There will be a lot to cover in this meeting, so we are expanding the time available for questions and answers. We encourage you to submit your questions in advance to SI-Comments@si.edu. Having your questions in advance will help guide the discussion.

Staff will be available in the Ring Auditorium to assist members of the audience with live questions for the Secretary. You also can submit your questions in real-time to by typing them into the chat screen on the right of the Prism video during the meeting. All questions are confidential and can be seen only by the chat moderator. We hope to address as many questions as possible during the time allotted, so please keep your questions brief and direct.

Staff who plan to access the meeting from the Tropical Research Institute in Panama will receive instructions and a link separately.
