2024 Smithsonian Craft Show, “Creating Joy,” opens May 1

This year’s Smithsonian Craft Show, Creating Joy, opens Wednesday, May 1, at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C. and runs through Sunday, May 5.

This highly anticipated annual event celebrates the joy-filled best in American craft and design, featuring an amazing show, a Preview Night benefit, a Thursday panel with visionary award winners, and a Saturday luncheon and talk. All proceeds from the event will benefit Smithsonian programs and museums

The Smithsonian Women’s Committee (SWC) annually produces the Smithsonian Craft Show to celebrate the best in American craft and design. This 42nd show, themed Creating Joy, highlights artisans from throughout the US. Our Honorary Chair is Meroë Park, Deputy Secretary and Chief Operating Officer of the Smithsonian Institution. Event proceeds make possible grants from the SWC to the the Smithsonian museums, galleries, research facilities and The National Zoo & Conservation Biology Institute for projects that could otherwise not take place.
